In 18 months, the company has doubled its market share in the sugar-energy market, jumping from 30% at the start of 2020 to 60% at the end of July.
XMobots, the largest drone company in Brazil and Latin America, ended the first half of 2021 consolidating its leading role in offering technologies for the sugarcane sector. The company, which in January 2020 had a market share of 30% in the sugar-energy market, doubled its share in this agribusiness niche, reaching a market share of 60% at the end of July 2021.
Just as an example of the company's strength in the sector, among the 10 largest plant groups in Brazil, drones and other technologies developed by XMobots are present in seven of them: Raízen, BP Bunge, Atvos, São Martinho, Cofco, Santa Terezinha and Adecoagro.
Giovani Amianti, the company's CEO, explains that the consolidation of XMobots was the result of work that put the demands of customers as the main focus in the development of new technologies. We went out into the field to understand the operations of our clients in the sugarcane sector. We wanted to get to know their pains and challenges and understand how drone technology, sensors and data analysis could add more value to their operations.
Based on intensive data collection, the XMobots R&D team, made up of more than 60 engineers, worked on a set of products, which was named Solu?o Cana?XMobots, whose purpose is to offer the complete cycle of Precision Agriculture on the sugarcane crop, combining the high technology of drones with software and hardware developed especially for this crop.

To cover all the stages of the sugarcane Precision Farming cycle, from mapping the fields to applying pesticides to treat the crop, Solu?o Cana XMobots has a specific product for each one.
At the mapping stage, the Arator 5C fixed-wing drone comes into play. It can fly for up to 60 minutes, mapping multiple sugarcane fields in a single flight. In Brazil, sugarcane plantations are presented in small plots that are far apart, and when mapped by ordinary multi-rotor drones, there is a great waste of time, since the autonomy of this equipment does not exceed 15 or 20 minutes, requiring constant battery changes.
According to Alfredo Barbosa Neto, Geotechnology Manager at Usina A?ucareira Gua?ra, the Arator's long-lasting battery delivers very high performance and this allows it to fly over several fields in one flight.
This powerful fixed-wing drone from XMobots also allows BVLOS (beyond visualization) flights, which guarantee better productivity in these operations.
When XMobots drones fly with a specific sensor on board, as is the case with the XMC sensor - a sensor developed by XMobots specifically for the spectral signature of the sugarcane leaf - as well as recording mapping images, they also record high-resolution images in the RGB (red-green-blue) and NIR (near-infrared) bands, which can differentiate points and areas with the presence of sugarcane weeds.
At COFCO, the success of the mills depends on great results, which come from the combination of operational efficiency and investment in disruptive technologies that have always been present at COFCO. And one of these technologies is the XMC sensor from XMobots," says Rog?rio Nicola, COFCO's technology and agricultural automation manager.
After the mapping flight, the recorded images are post-processed by the analysis intelligence software, XFarming, developed by XMobots, to provide analysis for sugarcane cultivation through reports, such as: calculation of planting failures, parallelism analysis, line restitution and weed detection.XMobots guarantees that with the high level of automation in XFarming's functionalities, its user clients achieve significant results in terms of saving time in operations and analysis.
Now it's impossible not to use XFarming. Before, the process was manual and took up a lot of time. The automation of the software's functionalities has completely eliminated all that time-consuming work," says Aislan Michel Tolini, Manager of Agricultural Control and Geotechnology - Corporate at Atvos.
And at the end of the Precision Farming cycle, XMobots, through Solu?o Cana, brings its sprayer drone, Dractor 25A, which also features mapping and weed detection flights. It is with the information from the weed detection report that Dractor carries out its spot spraying flight, i.e. it applies pesticides in a localized way, only in the infested areas. And the customers who rely on Solu?o Cana prove that spraying only in the affected areas not only brings all the operational advantages of a drone, but also saves on inputs and time.
To introduce the public to the features, benefits and advantages of using Solu?o Cana, XMobots enlisted four customers, sugar-energy plants, to be part of its main marketing campaign pieces in 2021. In the testimonials presented in videos, XMobots' customers manage to convey the most important points of return for them from using the elements of the solution.
